दिल्ली की मेयर डॉ शैली ओबरॉय ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय योग दिवस पर एमसीडी की ओर से आयोजित किए जा रहे कार्यक्रम का जायजा लेने के लिए शिक्षा विभाग के साथ समीक्षा बैठक की। मेयर डॉ शैली ओबेरॉय ने अधिकारियों को कार्यक्रम के सफल आयोजन के लिए समुचित व्यवस्था करने के निर्देश दिए। मेयर ने कहा कि मौसम को देखते हुए व्यवस्था इस प्रकार से की जाए ताकि कार्यक्रम में भाग लेने वाले प्रतिभागियों को किसी भी प्रकार की असुविधा न हो। योग दिवस कार्यक्रम में भाग लेने वाले बच्चों के लिए अल्पाहार की व्यवस्था की जाए।

दिल्ली नगर निगम का शिक्षा विभाग अंतरराष्ट्रीय योग दिवस के अवसर पर प्रत्येक वर्ष 21 जून को कार्यक्रम का आयोजन करता है। इस वर्ष अंतर्राष्ट्रीय योग दिवस कार्यक्रम पश्चिमी क्षेत्र के हरिनगर घंटाघर स्थित खाटूश्याम स्टेडियम में आयोजित किया जाएगा। कार्यक्रम का आयोजन बुधवार 21 जून 2023 को सुबह 7 बजे से 8 बजे तक किया जायेगा। कार्यक्रम में आमंत्रित अतिथिगण और निगम के विद्यालयों में पढ़ने वाले छात्र योग क्रियाएं एवं प्राणायाम करेंगे। 

मेयर डॉ शैली ओबरॉय ने कहा कि आजकल की भागदौड़ भरी जिंदगी में शारीरिक एवं मानसिक स्वास्थ्य के लिए योग को अपनाना आवश्यक है। योग अभ्यास के द्वारा हम जीवनशैली आधारित बीमारियां जैसे उच्च रक्तचाप, मधुमेंह और मोटापे इत्यादि से छुटकारा पा सकते हैं।  दिवस कार्यक्रम के सफल आयोजन से हम दिल्ली के नागरिकों को अपनी जीवनशैली में योग को सम्मिलित करने हेतु प्रोत्साहित करेंगे।
